Abstract

A perspective on the new versification of the psalter – a response to a response

In a previous article, I examined the process of versifying the psalter and questioned the principle of a “reproductive” versification, the lack of a sound hermeneutical approach and the necessity of versifying all 150 psalms – especially in one form and style as metrical psalms that are meant to be sung. A response by C.J.A. Vos followed. In the present article issues raised in this response are addressed and problems pertaining to the versifying and singing of the psalms are treated more extensively.
