Mark 16:1-8 in the context of a construed Marcan setting
The purpose of this article is to construct a context for the Marcan community. Results of previous scholars, who have used redaction critical, literary, and socio-historical methods are synthesized to achieve this aim. Time and place, intra-, inter-, and extra- community relations are in turn considered in theses. Expositions of pro and contra arguments for the theses emphasise the relativity of the proposed construction. In the second part of the article an attempt is made to understand Mark 16:1-8 in the imagined community context.
