Abstract

The university and a wholesome community order
The origins of the main ideas underlying university education are to be sought in the Ancient Near East, where from the earliest times the ideals of a safe and wholesome community order led to education and training. The complicated nature of modem society demands attention to formative education in balance with training for specific purposes.
