The article unfolds the development from the apocalyptic view of life to the eschatologicalone, as seen by Waiter Schmithals.The historical Jesus was part of the apocalyptic movement The message of the early church acknowledges the expectation of the apocalyptic movement but recognizes a specific fulfilment thereof.
